Giveaway fun!

Who doesn't love a good giveaway? I must admit I never did win anything like this (despite entering quite a few while engaged, planning, and obsessive-compulsively reading wedding blogs) .... but wouldn't it be fun if you did win?!

You would think I'd be over this stuff by now, but since my dear, sweet, amazing friend & bridesmaid Katelynn and her long-time boyfriend Russ FINALLY got engaged 3 weeks to do the day after our I-do's, I'm jumping right back on the wedding planning band wagon and am ALL about helping make their day as amazing and special as they helped make ours. Seriously without this girl (and Russ), not only would I not have had nearly as sweet a bachelorette party, but SO MUCH the week of the wedding would not have happened or at least would have caused me to majorly stress way beyond the realm of anything I would possibly have been capable of handling. That was a really long run-on sentence, but the point is: Kate is one of my best friends, and she is amazing. She totally came through for me during my planning process, and went above and beyond the call of duty for a friend or bridesmaid. I am so grateful to her, and absolutely thrilled I get to now be a part of her wedding journey!

All of that is to say, New York happens to be a relatively central location for us... a place we have met up before... such as when she joined me at Kleinfeld to help select my dress. How fun would it be to do this together and get a jump start on looking for hers?! (and an excuse to see her as I had gotten quite used to it every couple months while planning my wedding, whereas before we were usually only able to get together about once a year) Since my dress also happened to be a Lazaro, and I looked at some Alvina Valenta as well, I love these dresses and could definitely see her in some of the styles... Just thinking about it, I am getting so excited to help her start planning & see what she chooses for a dress! Because let's all be honest, it's really all about the dress.

Now go enter this sweet giveaway... or don't, because I really would like to win and take Katelynn!  : )

Oh, hello, there.

We all know the saying, "the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." And isn't that the truth? No matter who you are, what you do, or how hard you try, plans typically do not go as planned. That's just how it is in life, and, as it turns out, wedding planning. And wedding blogging, for that matter.

It's been over 4 months since I posted (sad), and in the event that anyone is still paying attention, following, or visiting this blog from time to time, you may have realized that I am no longer the "Future Mrs.", but now just plain Mrs!

Our wedding took place 1 month and 1 day ago, and unfortunately I kinda sorta failed at documenting the rest of that process! Like I said, the best laid plans... and, boy, do I have some stories about plans and things not going as planned! But I am going to save them for another day, because for now I just want to say this:

1. Our wedding was amazing!

and

2. When I picked back up with this blog before, and renamed it "For better or worse", my intention was always to keep and continue it after that once in a lifetime day that was originally the inspiration to start. Don't get me wrong, I love weddings and I (mostly) loved planning mine, but through this experience I realized I loved reading blogs and seeing posts about things other than weddings as well, and I thought, wouldn't it be fun to continue blogging when all of this is said & done, and just get to post about whatever I want?! (perhaps, even more fun!)

I kind of started to do that (post about things other than the wedding) as it was, but I did (and still do) mainly want to focus on the ups and downs of relationships and juggling life, especially for us women who are trying to be and do it all - "for better or worse" - and that is before we (I) even have children!

Anyway, here I am, back at work, back to my "normal" life, and back to blogging. One of these days, I'll try to review and capture some of the finer points of the planning process, the wonderful events and experiences leading up to, and the day itself, since that was, after all, always the plan. I wanted (and still do want) to preserve all of those memories that go with planning a wedding and getting married - memories that go by far too quickly, and for most of us, we only get the one shot at making them. Today, though, I just wanted to say "Hi!", re-introduce myself as Mrs. Sargent (yay!), and share a couple photos that capture the essence of what was truly the best day of our lives.

If you're reading this, I hope you'll come back for more, because there's a lot, A LOT more to share... and as I had inscribed inside my husband's wedding band, the best is yet to come. :)

P.S. Here's a sneak peek from our photographers' blog.... these two were amazing, they were everywhere, shooting all day and night long and I cannot wait to see the rest! http://mat-and-ash.com/blog/?p=2851
